Praise for The Fishing Trip—A Ghost Story!
“I had the pleasure of editing The Fish¬ing Trip—A Ghost Story. Even though
my opinion might be slightly biased, I found Key’s colorful characters and
gruesome ghouls to be likeable and entertaining; his storyline, enthralling and
filled with sus¬pense. A truly chilling (fish) tale that will satisfy the ghost
lover in all.”

REPRISAL! THE EAGLE RISES! BY CHRIS KEYS
Vigilantes or Patriots?
I’ve often thought, out of frustration with a liberal administration, what kind of response unlimited wealth could achieve to do the job of protecting America when the Ideological Administration refused to do so. Now we know. ‘Reprisal’ has answered that question – in spades. I give it 5 stars!!!!!

Synopsis:
The Fishing Trip-A Ghost Story
Four friends, brothers Bill and Ryan, plus their
two life long friends, Charlie and Danny, take their annual fishing trip on
Lake Michigan during the fall, salmon season. It’s a trip they have taken for
the last six years. It has proven to be great fun for the four young men, but
this year, things will be different.
After spending the day
without catching a single fish, they decide to break the rule set down by the
brother’s father years ago, after a particularly bad night of fishing, to
never stay on the lake after dark ever again. Once darkness closes in and
they’ve drank far too much, the light house light winks out, then they
experience the failure of their navigation equipment, becoming hopelessly
lost out on the dark lake.
In their wandering about the lake,
they discover an old ferry that appears to be abandoned. This chance
encounter, changes forever their annual excursion from a fun filled, male
bonding experience into a race to the safety of shore with the devil’s own
nipping at their heels and chopping at their heads. The twists and turns come
fast and furious, culminating in a shocking climax that will leave you
gasping and ready to swim to shore.
Reprisal! The Eagle Rises
After America suffers the two largest terrorist
attacks in history and realizing newly elected President Alan Starks and his
administration are inexplicably refusing to go after the real terrorists.
Billionaire businessman, Steven Howard, takes matters into his own hands and
takes the war on terror to the terrorists.
Risking his
fortune, his life and the lives of his family, he creates a private army under
the guise of Corporate Security. Howard enlists the help of his friend newly
retired Marine Corp. General and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Charles (Chip)
Clarett, and together they begin tracking down the terrorist responsible for
the attacks on America and the deaths of the General’s grand children and
daughter in-law. The terrorist trail leads them to Cuba, where a portion of
the terrorist cell is preparing for the next attack on America.
While on the home front, Howard begins a campaign of speeches
and media events with the hope of forcing President Starks to step up and
defend the nation with more than diplomacy and political correctness. By
chance while following the money trail behind the terror attacks, Howard and
Clarett discover the trail leads to Washington and the White House. After a
little digging, their effort exposes the President’s plot to
expand the power of the presidency by whatever means necessary including
bribery, extortion and murder.
Faced with the overwhelming
evidence Howard and Clarett are forced to open a second front in their
personal war on terror. A political front, fraught with scandal and the cut
throat politics of personal destruction; with the prize to the winner, of not
only the White House, but the country itself.
Reprisal! The Eagle's Gauntlet
In the continuing battle against terrorism, both at home and aboard, Steven Howard and General Charles (Chip) Clarett’s private war on terror takes Kilauea security into Israel’s West Bank in search of the money man behind the attacks on Houston and San Antonio.
Now face to face with the Palestinian’s Al-Aqsa Brigade and having to be ever vigilant for an Israel traitor, the team overcomes incredible odds to find and recover their target David Ashrawl. While tying up loose ends after their heroic battle, Ron Hough confronts the Israel traitor and discovers the true powers behind the terrorists and the strangle hold of corruption they have over the presidency.
As America falters under the weight of corruption and inept economic policies, President Starks continues to strengthen his personal power and to expand his personal wealth through bribes, extortion, intimidation and murder. All the while doing the bidding of the Brotherhood of the Sword and ignoring the countries free falling economy and the growing threat of terrorism.
As the tensions build surrounding the coming elections, Steven Howard and Chip Clarett find themselves having to seek new allies and build a conscientious of patriotic Americans to stand behind Steven and Chip as they seek to halt President Starks end run around the constitution and his ultimate goal of becoming the first American Dictator.

Popkey becomes successful

“It doesn’t matter if you fail little or fail big, they
are both failure! So go out and fail big, because who ever heard of someone
wanting to succeed in a little way!—American Adventure Author Chris Keys aka
Cliff Popkey
Clifford Robert Popkey was born in Garden city, Mich. on
March 19, 1955. He arrived as the fourth (Fifth actually) of his parents’ seven
children. His father Robert was a machinist for the auto industry and his
mother Shirley worked even harder caring for a full house.
An aspiring
draftsman for Ford Motor Co. Cliff graduated from Edsel Ford High School in
1973. Athletic and bright, Popkey was a member of the football, debate and
drama teams.
With all the options in the world before him, (the
dream of) a football scholarship was the top choice of a strong boy on the edge
of manhood. However, as the great Ulysses S. Grant wrote in the preface of his
memoirs, “Man proposes and God disposes.”
Less than two weeks after
graduation cliff and a classmate were mowing the lawn at the Dearborn Country
Club (Camp Dearborn) as part of the landscaping crew when everything changed.
The two were cutting the grass around a car sized boulder when a couple of
girls in string bikinis came their way. While they were both hormonally
distracted for an instant, Cliff’s buddy ran over his foot.
In a matter of a
split second, everything changed for young Popkey. Once he finally reached the
closet hospital over fifty miles away, hundreds of internal and external
stitches were required to rebuild his foot as best as 1973 medicine would allow. The doctors told Cliff he would never be able to weight on it
again. What they were really telling him was that he was never going to walk.
Of course, the doctor did not know who they were talking to, as even though
it took a year and a half, Cliff Popkey was upright and moving forward.
Inconvenient, strenuous and painful as it was, Popkey walked.
With his sports
dreams behind him, Cliff took a job with a disposal company. (Actually some ten
years later) Before long, he went from riding on the back of a garbage truck to
becoming General Manager of the company. At the time, he took a company that was
drastically being out competed to a business that eventually sold to their major
competitor for over $3 million in 1991.
Because of his success at the
disposal company, Cliff knew probably every businessperson in Oxford, Township
Mich. Consequently, when the present township supervisor was found to be
corrupt, many of those business people persuaded Popkey to run for the job. On
Nov.3, 1991, Clifford Robert Popkey won his election by a landside, taking
office in January 1992.
After cleaning up the corruption, Cliff enjoyed the
job, but hated the politics, so he decided not to run for re-election. That day
he became a self-proclaimed reformed politician.
After many jobs and more
than one self employment, Popkey began writing novels under the name Chris Keys.
Cliff actually began writing after high school but, it soon took a back seat to
having to work and raise a family. He started writing again about 15 years ago
as a hobby and decided to bring his passion to the public in 2006.
Cliff
Popkey has owned a construction company, a pre-owned manufactured home sales
company as well as been a truck driver, construction worker, sanitation
engineer, warehouse worker, landscaper and politician. He has routinely over
come every challenge life has presented, from nearly having had his foot
amputated by an industrial lawn mower, as well as having fallen off two roofs
while working construction. Cliff relocated to Sevier County with his wife Donna
almost a year ago. As Chris Keys, Popkey has three novels available on Amazon
and also on Smashwords in most Ebook formats titled, “The Fishing Trip-A ghost
Story, Reprisal! The Eagle Rises, and Reprisal! The Eagle’s Gauntlet. Cliff Popkey has recently changed his
mind about using a pen name and will publish all his future works under his real
name.
